Inspired by Cedar Stevens’s annual showing of the 1935 film A Midsummer Night’s Dream, this GM offering happened on St. John’s Day, June 24. It featured many classic summer and sun songs, plus extended quotes from the play and music by Felix Mendelssohn. Several of us wore wings, but our friend Lee’s handmade papier-mâché ones took first place. The mood was jovial and the snacks saporous. Surely the wood nymphs and flitting sprights worked their magic that evening.
